Laos Securities Exchange will commence trading on January 11, 2011 with two listed stocks, Financial Times reports. Shares of Electricite du Laos Generation (EDL) and the state-owned bank, Banque Pour Le Commerce Exterieur Lao (BCEL) will start trading at the bourse.
The government floated 25% of EDL shares and 15% of BCEL’s stock, and seeks to list around five companies by the end of the year. South Korea’s Korea Exchange is investing $9.8 million in the venture, while the Bank of Laos is investing $10.2 million, adds Bloomberg.
