The U.S. Department of Energy (DoE) has offered a $133.9 million loan guarantee to Abengoa Bioenergy Biomass of Kansas. The loan will be granted to support the development of a commercial-scale cellulosic ethanol plant.
The project, which will be located in Hugoton, Kansas, is estimated to create approximately 300 construction jobs and 65 permanent jobs. It will also be expected to convert about 300,000 tons of corn stover into 23 million gallons of ethanol per year.
