HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) has created an in-house risk management tool, Computing reports. The group enlisted Microsoft Corp.’s help in building the tool. The product has been built internally as it was cheaper than purchasing an off-the-shelf solution and helped in driving cultural change.
Previously, the HMRC information management services department had been making business decisions without considering risk, using multiple spreadsheets, unlinked standalone systems, which made the information prone to error. HMRC now aims to extend the tool to other departments.
