Petroleo Brasileiro (Petrobras) is seeking to invest nearly $55 billion in 2012, The Wall Street Journal reports. The Brazilian state-run energy giant will invest $49 billion in the country and an additional $5.66 billion in overseas operations.

A total of $224.7 billion will be allocated by the firm between 2011 and 2015. Next year’s investments will be a little above the per-year average of Petrobras’ investment plan of about $45.29 billion.
