The National Science Foundation Research Network (NSF) has given a grant of $2.85 million to the statistics department of the University of Missouri (MU), Columbia Missourian reports. The money will be used for data research on the national survey of the U.S. Census Bureau.
The grant, the largest ever received by the university’s department, will be managed by the department’s associate professor Scott Holan and director of undergraduate studies professor Chris Wikle, adds Columbia Daily Tribune. The department is planning to construct statistical models to improve estimates and reduce uncertainty in the application of survey results.
