The Texas Teacher Retirement System (Texas TRS) has appointed Barclays Capital (BarCap) to manage $500 million in a customized global mandate, Pensions & Investments reports. BarCap is now the $109.9 billion fund’s fifth strategic partner. For the BarCap portfolio, the funding came from the Austin-based system’s 5 percent allocation to the strategic partnership network program. With the recent appointment, the program totaled $5.2 billion. Texas TRS’ other four partners are BlackRock, JPMorgan Asset Management, Neuberger Berman and Morgan Stanley Investment Management.
