Italy’s Eni is in discussions with Russia’s Gazprom to offload its stake in a Czech refinery, said Unipetrol, which owns 51% of the refinery, Reuters reports. Unipetrol, controlled by Poland’s PKN Orlen, will exercise its option of first refusal to acquire Eni’s nearly 33% stake in the refinery.
State-controlled Gazprom, which has not made any decision yet, has a strategic partnership agreement with Eni, under which Gazprom considers offers of assets by Eni, adds Bloomberg. Shell Overseas Investments, which has a 16.4% stake in the refinery, may also consider selling its stake.
