Brazil’s biggest bank, Bradesco, may acquire a stake in the local finance arm of French retailer, Carrefour, Financial Times reports. Other banks, including Brazil’s largest non-government bank, Itaú-Unibanco, and Santander are also interested in buying the stake. French bank, BNP Paribas, which has so far provided the financial services offered by Carrefour in Brazil, is seeking a new partner. Bradesco will back Carrefour’s financial services, allowing customers to pay for products in installments. The deal will provide Bradesco access to Carrefour’s 890 retail outlets in Brazil.
