Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group has appointed six public-finance professionals as it focuses on issuing and trading debt in western states, Bloomberg reports. The firm’s expansion into municipal debt will be managed by Marc Hughes, who joined as an executive director in the San Francisco office.
Hughes was formerly debt manager for the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission. Brant Smith, who joined from Banc of America Securities as an executive director, will manage municipal underwriting in San Francisco. Hardy Manges, previously a director of municipal trading at Knight Capital Group, will head secondary municipal-debt trading, including three other executives.
