Irish insurer XL Group has added Suzanne Labarge to the company’s board of directors. Formerly, Labarge has served as vice chairman and chief risk officer at Royal Bank of Canada. In this position she handled the management of enterprise-wide risk, worked on the executive management committee and provided strategic direction leadership for the RBC Financial Group.
During her tenure with the Royal Bank of Canada, she has held varied posts across the areas of commercial and corporate lending, internal audit and corporate treasury before taking charge of risk management. Earlier, she has also worked with the Canadian government as an assistant auditor-general and as deputy superintendent of the office of the superintendent of financial institutions.
