Barclays Capital has selected Huang Yiping as managing director and chief economist for emerging Asia, The Wall Street Journal reports. He will be head of the firm’s macro-economic research on China and for Hong Kong. In his new role, Yiping will report to Piero Ghezzi, head of global economics, emerging markets of the firm, and Jonathan Scoffin, head of research for Asia of Barclays Bank. Prior to joining the investment banking unit of Barclays Bank, Yiping was with Peking University as a professor of economics.
