The Duke Endowment has donated $35 million to the Johnson C. Smith University (JCSU), Charlotte Observer reports. The university will use $25 million to develop a science center, $5.5 million to refurbish the Duke residence hall, and $4.5 million for scholarships. The Charlotte-based endowment is a private foundation and has gifted to the university more than $100 million over the years. It has awarded more than $2.7 billion to support higher education, healthcare and other projects.
