Republican Lawmaker Tells CFTC To Slow Down

Rep. Scott Garrett (R-N.J.) has told Gary Gensler, chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, to slow down the pace of writing regulations to govern derivatives, reports Dealbook.

Rep. Scott Garrett (R-N.J.) has told Gary Gensler, chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, to slow down the pace of writing regulations to govern derivatives. In a letter to Gensler, Garrett complained, among other things, that there appears to be “no order in which the rules are proposed,” citing the CFTC setting standards for derivatives dealers before defining what entities qualify as dealers.
