The PepsiCo Foundation, the philanthropic unit of PepsiCo, is providing $8 million funding to Water.org, Hindustan Times reports. The transaction will enable about 800,000 people to access safe drinking water and sanitation programs in India by March 2016. Water.org is a non-profit organization co-founded by Matt Damon and Gary White.
The foundation and Water.org have boosted their partnership to scale WaterCredit, a market-driven model that will offer micro loans to families all over the nation. It is also seeking to improve water use efficiency by 20 percent per unit of production by 2015.
