Banca Popolare di Milano is set for a capital increase of approximately €1.2 billion, The Wall Street Journal reports. The bank will raise the capital to strengthen its ratios after its board was asked to do so by the Bank of Italy.
Banca Popolare di Milano had earlier decided to start the capital increase in September. The Italian mutual bank has most of its operations in the wealthy Lombardy region.
