The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) has started talks with various industry participants to start securities lending and short selling activities, The Moment reports. A group of foreign institutional investors from UBS Wealth Management have shown interest in investing in the Nigerian capital market.
As per Oscar Onyema, NSE’s CEO, participants should be able to profit whether the market is up or down, if they can short securities. Investors, along with Kalu Idika, Chairman of BGL, said that their interest was based on the opportunities inherent in the market and the country.
