Barclays has sold £586 million ($954.2 million) of toxic assets to CreXus Investment, a U.S. real estate investment trust. The British bank did not report whether it will make a profit from the transaction, which is said to depend on CreXus successfully raising around $700 million from issuing between 50 million and 57.5 million of new shares over the next month. Barclays still needs to sell its Protium unit, which holds £7.5 billion ($12.21 billion) worth of toxic assets.
