New York’s pension fund for public workers has received a return of 6% on its investment in the latest quarter, The Wall Street Journal reports. The New York Common Retirement Fund’s assets are now worth $140.6 billion as of the end of 2010. In 2010, the fund reduced its assumed rate of return on investments from 8% to 7.5%, while its total return for three quarters was 9%. The fund for more than 1 million employees, retirees and beneficiaries was valued about $7.8 billion higher for the fourth quarter of 2010.
