IBM Plans $900 Million Non-U.S. Pension Fund Contribution

IBM is planning to contribute around $900 million to its non-U.S. defined benefit pension plans this year, Pensions & Investments reports. The technology company is not legally mandated to make contributions to its U.S. defined benefit plans.

IBM allocated $865 million to its non-U.S. pension plans in 2010. The New York-based company’s non-U.S. plans increased 4.1 percent to $35.7 billion as of December 31, while its U.S. pension assets rose 6.3 percent in 2010 to $50.3 billion.
