India Ups Infra Bond Investment Cap To $25B

The Reserve Bank of India has permitted foreign institutional investors to put up to $25 billion into bonds and debentures of Indian infrastructure companies.

The Reserve Bank of India has permitted foreign institutional investors (FIIs) to put up to $25 billion into bonds and debentures of Indian infrastructure companies, Economic Times reports. The investment limit has been increased from $5 billion.

FIIs registered with Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) will also be able to invest in non-convertible debentures and bonds issued by non-banking financial companies. The amendments will also apply for investment by qualified institutional investors in units of mutual fund debt schemes within $3 billion.
