The CME Group’s New York Mercantile Exchange (Nymex) will be introducing a Brent contract on December 12, Bloomberg reports. The new contract will factor in the alterations made to the benchmark North Sea Dated Brent assessment by Platts, the energy news and pricing unit of McGraw-Hill Cos.
February 2012 will be the first listed month for the Nymex Brent 25-day futures and options contract. The contracts offer customers a hedging solution for managing their price risk amid a transforming Brent market.
