Regaining the No. 3 position on this list is the Barclays duo supervised by Gerardus Vos, which slipped to runner-up last year. One client applauds the pair’s “early deep dive into payment technologies, financial tech and the impacts on established names like SAP, Visa, and Brazilian Cielo.” The London-based researchers cover 20 European software names. “Our long-term focus is on companies offering sustainable growth at a reasonable price. For this reason we have increasingly focused on the secular trends of payments and digitalization, where we see structural reasons for strong ongoing demand,” says Vos. “Online merchant acquirers and processors benefit from the substitution of cash into digital payments and the increasing penetration of e-commerce and are among our most favored names.” He and his teammate have been touting French information technology major Capgemini since December 2014, believing that the investment community underestimates its structural improvements in securing both profitability and cash generation; its evolution from a regional and bespoke business to a global enterprise; and its subsequent increase in standardization, automation and offshoring practices. By the middle of last month, the stock had climbed 29.5 percent, to €78.65, besting its regional peers by 8.3 percentage points.
