Howard Fischer may have closed his flagship convertible arb fund and other related vehicles earlier this year.

But his Basso Capital Management is still alive and well, solely a specialist in special-purpose acquisition companies (SPACs), also known as blank-check companies. In fact, he is even mulling the creation of his own blank-check company to acquire a company.
