The most consistently high-performing buyout fund manager is New York-based Veritas Capital, according to Preqin.
The alternatives data firm said the private equity firm — which specializes in national security, information technology, and other government-sector investments — has had the most reliably successful buyout funds. Buyout fund managers were ranked based on how frequently their funds delivered top-quartile performance.
Veritas had five buyout funds qualify for the ranking — all of which had top-quartile returns, according to Preqin.
Other consistently top-performing buyout fund managers included Brookfield Capital Partners, Netherlands private equity firm Main Capital Partners, South Korea’s MBK Partners, and Switzerland-based Ufenau Capital Partners. Each firm had a perfect score of three-out-three top-quartile funds, Preqin found.

The industry data tracker also examined the most reliably good mangers of growth funds and venture capital funds. Within the growth strategy, Boston-based Ampersand Capital Partners ranked the most consistent top-performer, with five out of five funds recording top-quartile returns. Perfect scores also went to Malaysian firm Creador Management Company and Finland-based KJK Capital, which each had three top-quartile growth funds included in the analysis.
In venture capital, meanwhile, Preqin had a five-way tie for the firm with the most reliable outperformance. Five firms had three out of three venture capital funds in the top quartile: Benchmark Capital, Hong Kong’s Click Ventures, Singapore-based East Ventures, G Squared, and Merus Capital.
