Pennsylvania Public School Employees’ Retirement System James Grossman’s background and expertise can’t but help the Pennsylvania Public School Employees’ Retirement System in hedge fund due diligence. A certified public accountant, Grossman worked at audit firm KPMG for seven years before joining the Pennsylvania retirement system in 1997. Recently promoted from director of external public markets, risk and compliance to deputy CIO, Grossman, 45, has oversight of all external public markets managers. That responsibility includes PSERS’ growing absolute-return portfolio, which now boasts such blue-chip hedge fund firms as AQR Capital Management, BlackRock, Bridgewater Associates and Brigade Capital Management.
