Rolls-Royce Holdings
Rolls-Royce Holdings is best known for its aircraft engines, such as those in the Airbus A350 and Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The London-based company, which was founded in 1906, initially focused on creating luxury automobiles, but turned to the manufacture of aircraft engines at the start of World War I. (The auto division would eventually be spun off, in 1973.) The company acquired U.S. competitor Allison Engine Co. in 1995, expanding its U.S. presence.
