For a fifth year running — and the sixth time since 2008 — the J.P. Morgan Cazenove troupe directed by Harm Meijer earns the top spot. The four London-based analysts, who follow 44 stocks, impress investors with their “excellent-quality research, accessibility and responsiveness,” in the words of one portfolio manager. Among their favorite names is Britain’s largest commercial property operator, Land Securities Group. Factors that make the real estate investment trust appealing include its exposure to office development in London and its management team, says Meijer, 41. In addition, Land Securities’ development pipeline is beneficially concentrated in such growth areas as the Victoria district of the City of Westminster in England’s capital. Looking at the sector as a whole, the researchers remain constructive and “strongly believe in the rotation theme” that anticipates a shift of investment portfolio allocations into equities, the crew chief advises. “For example,” Meijer adds, “we remain focused on areas and sectors outside London, such as Spanish offices and Ireland.”
