In 2007, Ehud Gelblum rose to the winner’s circle for the first time in this sector, and there he has remained, despite changing firms in 2009. The Hall of Famer, who also repeats at No. 1 in Data Networking & Wireline Equipment, is on the move again. Gelblum, 44, left Morgan Stanley over the summer to join Citi. He maintains his focus on determining whether the battle for dominance in the smartphone space will settle into a two-player contest between Cupertino, California–based Apple and Samsung Electronics Co. of South Korea, and whether a third operating system can shoulder in to compete with Apple’s iOS and Mountain View, California–based Google’s Android. Gelblum “does a good job modeling,” says one portfolio manager, “and probing managements on the upside and downside bias to estimates.” — Pam Baker
